Following the launch of the Wii in North America on 19th November, 2006, Nintendo has announced that in eight days it has sold over 600,000 units. Making the simple math gives us a number of $190 million that Nintendo made quite easily.

"Even with sales already in excess of 600,000 units demand continues to exceed supply, as it’s clear this is one of the ‘gotta-have’ products for the holiday season," said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

"We’ve shipped retailers several times the amount of hardware the other company was able to deliver for its launch around the same time - and we still sold out."

The Wii is due to launch in Japan on December 2, with a European release to follow on December 8. Nintendo plans to ship 4 million consoles around the globe by the end of the year.
