Well, yes. Wii. The much anticipated console from Nintendo is about to crack open its doors to the world. But having two other competitors, meaning Sony’s PlayStation 3, which people say will rule the graphics kingdom, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, one highly-marketed console that has yet to prove itself worthy.

Neither these two bring something innovating as Wii. These days I’ve done some searching and researching on the Wii subject. More than usual must I say. I’ve viewed those two gameplay movies that Nintendo has brought up, and was fascinated. Totally caught.

In the past two decades gamers have played while sitting in their seat. Now, in terms of healthcare this brings up a lot of problems. Wii is different. Wii gets the player out of the seat and into a LCD projected world. Exciting. It makes the player use all his muscles and will to reach a goal.

Must admit, it’s something innovating. Although over the years, Nintendo’s products, including the handheld Nintendo DS aren’t as good as Sony’s products in terms of graphics. A personal remark after I got to review a Nintendo DS and a PSP. But as I’ve said almost all the time in my reviews, it’s not graphics that count, its gameplay.

Letting my imagination loose, I can only think that "The Wii" is going to give "e-sports" another definition. And why is that? Well, to this day e-sports means "sitting in a seat, aiming with a mouse". This won’t happen with the Wii and my guess is that it will become popular because of this.

These days people tend to have some kind of attraction to sports and nature. Wii brings sports, and brings movement of one players muscles. This, on the player, has a major impact. Besides the relaxaing feeling of playing a game, he gets to work out. Really now.

You may say I’m crazy. But playing "Metroid Prime" and stepping left and right, simulating a jump, etc. is going to be hard and "relaxing" work for the gamer. Without trying to make the Wii feel like "the ultimate console on the market" I’m going to give it a buy and try it as a workout. Really curious if I’m going to build body mass playing on the Wii.

I’m excited about the level of freedom and interaction that Wii brings. A medieval or samurai sword fight isn’t going to be just about pushing buttons faster than your opponent, but about making the right moves in a three-dimensional space.

This brings liberty in gameplay. But one question I’m posing is this: are the moves pre-programmed so that certain moves get to be done when doing one special move? or are they free moves, not pre-programmed, just free, allowing the player to do all sorts of stuff that he would normally can’t do.

Either way, the level of excitement is the same. If the Wii will be as powerful in graphics as Sony’s PlayStation 3, or Microsoft’s Xbox 360, then it will become the market leader. I’m sure. But yet again, it’s not all about the power of the console. Developers will also have to invest in making games for the Wii.

Besides "Metroid Prime" I’m not seeing any other first-person-shooter out there. As we all know, FPSs or TPSs are popular among people. If the market stays the same and developers will find it easy to launch games only for the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, then Wii will become just another console "for the family" with adventure or action games available for it.

It really depends on many factors. But if all goes well and according to my prediction [it better be] then Wii will rule the market, coming in close will be the PlayStation 3 and third, the Xbox 360. Now, I don’t want to be rude about Microsoft, but judging by its features the Xbox 360 is of a lower quality than the PlayStation 3. One argument would be backwards compatibility. Research into that.

Judging by Google Trends results on two words: "Wii" and "PlayStation 3" I’m guessing that there’s going to be hell on Earth when these two consoles will fight each other for the market share. Being sadistic, it’s going to a pleasure to watch them fight.
